Quiet Night

scoured mirror, steel, low RPM motor
16.5″h x 23″w x 16.625″d, 2010

Navigational movement within the installation space is anchored by the placement of a kinetic sculptural wall works, each consisting of a mirror attached to steel brackets with a small, low-rpm motor. In each of these pieces, the mirror’s reflective surface has been partially scoured, revealing various layers of silver, pigment, and transparency. These slowly rotating oval mirrors, mounted horizontally and vertically, cast both light and shadow on the walls, establishing longitude and latitude. Sending and receiving in reciprocal processes, the continually shifting, fragmentary reflections evoke private meditations on landscape, horizon lines and global forms and spaces.
